Vision Statement:

The East Orange Campus High School Comprehensive School Counseling program strives to provide all students with a high quality education that enables the students to be contributing members of a multiethnic, multicultural, and pluralistic society. We seek to create an environment that achieves equity for all students and ensures that each student is a successful learner, is fully respect, and learns to respect others.

Mission/Philosophy Statement:

The East Orange Campus High School Comprehensive School Counseling program supports student achievement through a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social growth of all students. In partnership with students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community, school counselors facilitate and assess the effectiveness of the program to assist all students in acquriring the competencies needed for constructive participation in society.

The School Counselor's Role:

To achieve maximum program effectiveness, the American School Counselor Association recommends a school-counselor-to-student ratio of 1:250 and that school counselors spend 80 percent or more of their time in direct and indirect services to students. School counselors participate as members of the educational team and use the skills of leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to promote systematic change as appropriate. The framework of a comprehensive school counseling program consists of the following four components: define, manage, deliver, and assess.
