Mission Statement
The mission of East Orange Campus High School’s Visual and Performing arts program is to provide a high quality education in Visual and Performing Arts. The arts program is a supportive environment for a diverse student population and a comprehensive curriculum that will engage students to encounter the creative experience through the mediums of visual arts, traditional art, music, and dance. The creative experience is the personal interaction that one has while creating, critically analyzing, and performing art. We prepare students for successful roles in an ever-changing society by challenging them to realize their full potential while recognizing and respecting moments of self expression and individuality.
We believe that all students can be successful. The primary focus will be to bring the creative experience to all students and the end result that all students develop a creative spirit and life long appreciation of arts and culture.
NJCCC Standard 1: Visual and Performing Arts
Standard 1.1 The Creative Process: All students will demonstrate an understanding of the elements and principles that govern the creation of works of art in dance, music, theatre, and visual art.
Standard 1.2 History of the Arts and Culture: All students will understand the role, development, and influence of the arts throughout history and across cultures.
Standard 1.3 Performing: All students will synthesize skills, media, methods, and technologies that are appropriate to creating, performing, and/or presenting works of art in dance, music, theatre, and visual art.
Standard 1.4 Aesthetic Responses & Critique Methodologies: All students will demonstrate and apply an understanding of arts philosophies, judgment, and analysis to works of art in dance, music, theatre, and visual art.
