East Orange Campus High School Career and Technical Education Program  Cosmetology Room Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The East Orange School District is excited to announce the grand opening of our Cosmetology Room. In 2020, under the leadership of Assistant Superintendent Anita Champagne, Dr. Dawn Stokes-Tyler started the cosmetology program at the East Orange Campus High School. Because of COVID-19 the first class of 20 scholars were forced to start their CTE experience via Zoom. With hard work and perseverance, we are proud to announces that we now have 60 scholars enrolled in our cosmetology program and now have a state-of-the-art facility for teaching and training.

Career and Technical Education programs require more commitment than traditional high school programs because these programs require students to complete 3-4 additional classes that may include an internship or a work experience assignment. Students accepted into the CTE programs are required to meet the following requirements;
o Maintain a 2.5 GPA
o Complete all course and work experiences associated with their chosen pathway
o Mandatory participation in the CTE program and activities organized by and associated with the East Orange Campus High School Career and Technical Education programs
o Attend school daily and meet the Average Daily Attendance requirement (92% attendance rate)
o Adhere to guidelines outlined in the EOCHS CTE Student / Parent Contract

Eligible students will be invited to apply during their 8th grade year and will be awarded at the beginning of the next school year.

Special acknowledgements to Superintendent Abdulsaleem R. Hasan, Principal William Worley, Board President Terry Tucker, Board Vice President Darlene Clovis, Instructor Lititia Lumzy - Chavis and Manestream Beauty Bar.
